Windows Update Failed to install Realtek Network drivers I have an HP 251-a244 Desktop that has Windows Home 10 (64 bit) factory installed. It is an AMD A6-6310 series, 6GB RAM @ 1600MHz, 1TB SATA HDD, AMD APU Radeon R4 graphics, Realtek SemiConductor Corp. WLAN- Realtek RTL 8188EE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter. I really don't get it, although this 'change' in hardware ID might explain why I'm either seeing a Code 31 or a Code 35 for this device; I think it can't load the drivers (Code 31) because there's information missing from the original Ethernet controller information in the registry; I'm getting the Code 35 because the Realtek 8139 Ethernet.

hi, all.
I have an HP ENVY 700-430qe with 32 Gig of RAM which came pre-installed with WINDOWS 8.1. I haven't removed it, but I really rather use Windows 7, 64x. But HP GPT Disk won't let me install windows 7 on that disk, so I attached a second hard disk from my other PC which has Windows 7.1 already installed. Windows 7 boots up fine from the 2nd hard disk, but I can't access the internet on it, because the HP drivers from WINDOWS 8.1 won't install on Windows 7 and will only work with WINDOWS 8.1. However, I've seen other users get great help from you guys, so here are the devices that have exclamation points for bad drivers.
NETWORK CONTROLLER
PCIVEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_2230103C&REV_01 PCIVEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_2230103C PCIVEN_14E4&DEV_4365&CC_028000 PCIVEN_14E4&DEV_4365&CC_0280
REALTEK PC GBME FAMILY CONTROLLER
PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_2AF3103C&REV_0C PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_2AF3103C PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_8168&CC_020000 PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_8168&CC_0200
HERE'S THE NEXT THING,
UNDER NETWORK ADAPTERS, the device manager Lists NO WIRELESS ADAPTER DEVICE at all So I can't COPY the HARDWARE ID numbers which you need.
But when I BOOT UP TO WINDOWS 8.1, DEVICE MANAGER,
lists BREADCOM BCM43142 802.11 bgn WI-FI ADAPTER PCIVEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_2230103C&REV_01 PCIVEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_2230103C PCIVEN_14E4&DEV_4365&CC_028000 PCIVEN_14E4&DEV_4365&CC_0280 https://treeskins922.weebly.com/film-maker-pro-free-download.html.
After I get the wireless driver for Broadcom, will Device manager (on Win 7)
then list the device?
Also, please point me to the drivers for windows 7? I need the help.
james

Hi,
Sounds like you only need:
1. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66001-66500/sp66403.exe
2. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64501-65000/sp64531.exe
Please try them first then post back any more missing.
Regards.
BH

BH,
I installed both drivers, but they didn't work, so I figured it may have been my fault, so I went back to the first restore
before I installed any drivers on my HP, and started all over.
I did a fresh scan in the device manager, BEFORE I installed INTEL CHIPSET.
Here are the hardware devices missing drivers. Original Realtek Network Controller Driver Error 259 7
1) BCM34142AO

_____________________________
AFTER I installed the INTEL CHIPSET & USB3, the intel usb3 installed perfectly, but the intel chipset didn't seem to make any difference. I noticed the THE DISPLAY ADAPTER IS STANDARD VGA GRAPHICS WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE ONLY THE INTEL USB 3 DRIVER WORKED.
Anyway, I NOW HAVE only FOUR MISSING DRIVERS
1)BCM34142AO
2) ETHERNET CONTROLLER
3) NETWORK CONTROLLER
4)PCI SIMPLE COMMUNICATIONS CONTROLLER
______________________________
I then installed the file you had me download sp64531, the Realtek Network Controller Driver 7.73.618.2013 - Rev A
but it wouldn't install properly, it gave me the error
'the update didn't complete successfully (259)
maybe because the file was an update and not the original driver installed?
I then installed the broadcom 802.11b, g, n driver
it gave me 'Error 'cmdline.cpp 2665 has occurred & setup can't continue'
so I uninstalled them.
Let me know what you think.
thanks, james

bluetooth drivers,
sp57794 stopped installing, it said I needed to have a bluetooth installed.
ethernet driwver,
sp64351 gave me, Error 259 - Update didn't install correctly probably because I don't have original driver, though I'm not sure.
wireless driver,
sp63889 said, proceed with update, intnel management engine interface, your system doesn't beet operating system requirements for update.
sp66403 said, ERROR Cmdline.cpp 2665
I'm beginning to wonder if I have the wrong Intel chipset drivers for my machine. Or would that not throw it off

Thank you for your help, you at least tried. I am surprised that nobody else solved this problem.
Since I paid $1700 for my HP PC, and since HP, which used to have the Best Technical support (I HAVE 5 HP machines to prove it), and since HP would actually design an expensive PC that will only take Windows 8, and not make drivers for Windows 7, I returned my HP to Costco, they glady returned my money, and I bought a Dell computer instead. It also comes with Windows 8, but I was able to get drivers for Windows 7. Now I'm a happy camper.
Thank you for your help. Please delete my user account as I really have no need of it anymore.
James.
